Viva Shiva

Viva Shiva opened its doors to the public just over a year ago and in that time it has become known as one of the finest Indian restaurants on the Costa Calida. Located in the centre of San Pedro del Pinatar, this classy Indian eatery has modern décor and a warm interior. The restaurant is always bustling with customer’s young and old, couples and family groups - booking in advance is advised.

The menu at Viva Shiva is extensive and ranges from more traditional dishes (chicken tikka masala) to their own Gujaratti and Anglo Indian specialities, the chef Bina only uses fresh locally sourced meats, for example; the lamb is specially marinated all day so, when served, is so tender it just melts in the mouth, to compliment this process all the sauces are home made without the use of colouring or preservatives. Dishes worthy of a special mention are; chicken Koftas, Bujia – a vegetarian delight cooked to an old family recipe, chicken jeera, prawn jalfrezi, Anglo Indian cutlets – minced lamb cooked with fresh coriander, chillies, garlic, ginger and lemon juice. And to accompany you must try their tava naan - unlike normal naan it is very fine and not as heavy. Make sure you leave room for your desserts, as unlike many of their contemporaries they offer an unusual range of Indian desserts such as the chutney Mary & ice cream or the Shahi tukre a sweet Indian bread pudding. A takeaway and outside catering service is also available plus the menu features a small selection of International non-Indian dishes.

In conclusion the overall experience is definitely a memorable one - especially with many customers joining in with the bangra dancing that takes place at regular events. So if you are a fan of sub-continental cuisine and you still haven’t tried Viva Shiva, you really are missing out.
