Fayago, the grandfather of current owner, Maria, opened his first restaurant 46 years ago in Elda. His love of good quality ingredients that truly represents the freshness and flavours of authentic Spanish cuisine has been passed down the generations, gaining new heights as it evolves through its second restaurant located on the Playa Lyssa in Santa Pola. And when we say authentic, we really mean it. If you’re looking for a taste of ‘real Spain’ or more importantly, ‘real Alicante’, you’ll be hard pressed to discover a better advocate. Fayago’s menu is inspiring in its simplicity and dedication to its clientele’s taste buds, ensuring that every mouthful is a pleasurable pilgrimage to encounter the genuine ‘sabor’ of Province of Alicante.

Famous, first and foremost, for it’s arroz, (paella), Fayago offers you the créme de la crème in local gastronomy. Fayago is so famous locally for the quality of its arroz in fact, that Maria and her staff traveled to China earlier this year to represent Spain’s most famous dish in the year of Spain in China festivities in the lead up to the Olympics. You can even catch her on Chinese TV on youtube – Fayago en China. In addition, Fayago in Santa Pola is located directly on the beach front of Playa Lyssa, giving you unspoiled views of the Mediterranean Sea and coastline all the way down to the lighthouses of La Manga. You can choose to sift your feet in the sand as you eat, sit back and watch the world go by on the ample terrace or if you’re seeking a romantic venue, reserve a table in Fayago’s elegant air conditioned dining room and peruse charming works of local art. Fayago can cater for all with its 40 covers inside and a further 60 out side on the covered terraces.

Now, close your eyes and imagine what you want from your perfect Spanish restaurant. Good food, helpful friendly staff who’ll recommend the best catch of the day or make a paella to your specifications, a relaxed atmosphere, a place to eat when chilling out on the beach with family and friends or a chic restaurant to treat the one you love and you’ve just visualized Fayago. I could go on, but in the end I know that just one visit to Fayago will be all the proof you’ll need.
